Undocumented Children Deserve a Chance at the American Dream.

There are thousands of young people in this country who are undocumented immigrants who were brought to this country by their parents at a very young age. Many of these young people know no other country, language or culture--the United States is there home. However, because they were brought here illegally by their parents they have no legal status in the United States.

Today these children are adults. Yet because of their undocumented and illegal status in the United States, they have difficulty attending college or pursing a life in the only country they know as home.

The American Dream Act, H.R. 1275, would provide finally provide an opportunity for these marginalize young people to have a chance at a productive and rewarding life in the U.S. The bill would allow certain undocumented immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for a certain number of years and entered the U.S. illegal at a certain age to adjust their status to that of a lawful permanent resident. he proposed bill is based on the notion that it would be “un-American” to punish children for actions that occurred years ago and over which they had no knowledge or control.

Passage of the Dream Act of 2007 would allow these young people to move their lives forward and become productive, fully integrated, and contributing members of our society.

VisaAmigo supports the American Dream Act. Please contact your U.S. representatives and encourage them to support this bill.
