Your NVC Case Number

Once the NVC receives your approved petition from the USCIS they will process the petition and assign your case an NVC case number. This case number will be the number you use to reference your case from this point on.

Here is an example of an NVC case number: LND 2005536018. The 3 letter code indicates the U.S. embassy or consulate which will handle the case, which is London in this example. The next four numbers, 2005, refers to the year in which the case was created at the NVC. The next three digits are the Julian date plus 500. In this example, 536 would indicate that this case was created on the 36th day of the year, or February 5. The last three digits indicate that this was the 18th case created for London on February 5.

Once the NVC has created your case and completed its processing, your case will be forwarded to the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad.
