Korean nationals to be added to Visa Waiver Program
The Visa Waiver Program(VWP) is a a U.S. program that allows foreign nationals of certain countries to travel to the U.S. for business or please for a period of 90 days without a visa.
On April 18, 2008, the Department of Homeland Security announced that it had signed an agreement with Korea to add them to the VWP. The agreement requires Korea to work with the U.S. to meet certain security requirements. U.S. officials will be traveling to Korea to work on the program which it hopes to have in place by fall 2008.
The DHS cautions Koreans not to make travel plans based on this announcement and recommends that all travel plans relying on the VWP should be made only after the program is officially in place.
